Marilyn Gouthro, Associate

Marilyn Gouthro has joined Promeus as an Associate and provides her expertise and knowledge to searches in the public school board sector.

Marilyn brings both breadth and depth of experience. She has over 35 years of experience as an educator and leader, including six years as a member of a senior executive team and five years as the Director of Education for Lakehead Public Schools. In her direct work with boards of trustees, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the organizational and leadership needs of boards. She knows the critical importance of the relationship between the board and its director.

Marilyn has a particular interest in meeting needs of students and young people at risk and chaired the recent provincial expert panel on Student Success, Grades 7-12. In 2004, she was recognized by her peers across the province and received the Distinguished Leaders Award. In 2006, she was the recipient of The Fred Bartlett Memorial Award, presented by OPSBA for outstanding contribution to education in Ontario. She was a founding member of a team responsible for the delivery of mental health services across Northwestern Ontario. She is currently a member of the Board of Governors at Confederation College where she chairs the board’s governance committee. She has also recently joined the board of directors for the Childrens’ Centre, an organization which supports troubled children and their families.

Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Arts from St Francis Xavier University and a Master of Education degree from Lakehead University as well as numerous professional qualifications and involvement in leadership training.
