The Executive Director of CODE reports to the CODE Board of Directors and to the Chair of CODE on day-to-day matters to support the Mission, Vision, and Strategic Priorities and Actions of CODE. The CODE Executive fully supports and provides strategic and operational advice to the Executive Director, as required.
The Executive Director of COEP reports to the COEP Board of Directors. The role requires significant oversight and accountability of Ontario Ministry of Education projects valued at approximately $47M.
The role(s) of the CODE Executive Director and COEP Executive Director are detailed in their respective CODE and COEP By-Laws.
Priority will be given to candidates who are currently serving or have recently served as a Director of Education in Ontario. The successful candidate(s) will possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated knowledge of the workings of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, as well as a proven ability to work within the political framework of the Ontario provincial government, Ontario district school boards, and a variety of professional associations. Further, the candidate(s) will possess the capacity to organize provincial events with limited operational support. Proficiency in both English and French would be an asset.
The contract for the position(s) is for a two (2) year term commencing August 5, 2025, with potential renewal through mutual agreement in concert with the CODE Executive. The CODE Executive will determine an appropriate compensation package for the position(s). With the position(s) being contractual, the successful applicant(s) will neither be an employee of the Council of Ontario Directors of Education, nor will the contract include insurance benefits.

The Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE), representing the Directors of Education of the 73 publicly funded district school boards of Ontario, and CODE Ontario Education Projects (COEP), are seeking to recruit the position(s) of Executive Director(s). Currently, the two roles are performed by one Executive Director; however, there is the possibility that they may be divided into two separate positions performed by two different individuals.
CODE, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1990, provides Directors of Education with a common voice, as it works with the Ministry of Education to advise and strategize on issues of program and operations, affecting the delivery of public education in Ontario. CODE represents the following Affiliate members: CODEC – Conseil ontarien des directions de l’éducation catholique; CODEP – Conseil ontarien des directions de l’éducation publique; ECCODE – English Catholic Council of Directors of Education; and PCODE – Public Council of Ontario Directors of Education.
