Reporting to the board of ten (10) trustees, the Director of Education will provide leadership to a team of supervisory officers and staff across the system and district to ensure that the Board’s Vision of “Always Learning, Learning All Ways” and the priorities of its current Multi-Year Strategic Plan and related priorities are achieved.

Located on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which is represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) currently serves approximately 18,500 students in 40 elementary schools and 9 secondary schools across Bruce and Grey counties and employs about 3,000 permanent and casual staff.
Bluewater District School Board encompasses an area of 8,673 square kilometres and is represented by an expansive mix of friendly and welcoming rural and small urban communities. The northern part of the school district features the Bruce Peninsula, surrounded by 850 kilometers of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay shoreline. The eastern region includes the Beaver Valley, southern Georgian Bay, and the Blue Mountains. In southern Grey-Bruce, the Saugeen River, known as one of Ontario’s best family canoe routes, flows from Hanover to Southampton. Along the district’s western edge, the Lake Huron shore offers scenic sandy beaches and winding rivers.
